Our History

Since our inception in November of 2005—over eighteen years ago— United Community Center of Westchester, Inc. has improved the lives of over 500,000 immigrants, and other neighbors in need.

UCCW was founded by Jacqueline Agudelo, a Social Worker with many years of field experience who saw a great need for humanitarian aid in the area and decided to do something about it. She united a group of volunteers with the same belief that working together is the best way to empower each other and that everyone should be treated fairly having access to services and resources that are available. We are continuously working on community challenges with programs that make a positive impact to the needs of and changes in the community.

Our Community Center is a vocal and invaluable city and county resource for people, at-risk populations, other advocates and service providers, policymakers, and the public at large. We have earned the reputation as a credible source of information on homelessness, immigrants, low-income families, its causes, and solutions.

Our Mission

Community and charities

To serve people in need with a culture of solidarity, providing direct assistance focusing on their immediate necessity, through supportive services, programs and advocacy; empowering them to raise their quality of life, restore hope and dignity, which is fundamental for a healthier integration.

The center continually identifies and assesses the changing needs and resources of the community, modifying its programs accordingly to meet the needs of its clients in the best possible ways.

We assist anyone to obtain the services and resources that they are in need of or entitled to.

Our goal is to help our neighbors return to self-sufficiency.

Our organization works hard to strengthen and preserve the social fabric of our community.

There’s just one thing missing: you! Are you interesting in volunteering for our organization, or are you looking for assistance yourself or a family member?  Contact us and become part of our community!
